Ida Caroline McClain
Ida Caroline McClain, age 87, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on
Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:35 PM at Rest Haven Nursing Home,
Greenville, Ohio. She was born on August 7, 1929 in Piqua, Ohio,
to the late Marguerite (Finfrock) Orth and Cletus & Dorothy Orth.
She is survived by her sons and daughter in law, Ira & Gail McClain
of Bloomington, IL, and Dwight McClain of New Madison, OH; daughters,
Sharon Petry of Urbana, OH, and Donna Alexander of Dayton, OH; 9
grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Bob Orth of Florida; as
well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband,
Vernon D. McClain; sons in law, David Petry and Richard Alexander; and
brother, Bill Orth.
She was a retired Nurses Aid after working at Wayne HealthCare for 17
years, Reid Hospital for 4 years as well as the Brethren Retirement
Community. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in
Greenville and the Eastern Star. She loved sewing, fishing and
spending time with family at holiday gatherings.
There will be a service held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 3:00 PM at
Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Peter Menke
officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery in New
Madison, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3
PM at the funeral Home. There will be an Eastern Star service conducted
on Saturday starting at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to
the State of the Heart Care or St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Greenville.
