Don Lee Mumaw

Don Lee Mumaw, age 91, of Versailles passed away at 9:20 AM on Friday, March 10, 2017, at Hospice of Miami County at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. Don was born August 16, 1925, in Versailles to the late Leo & Mary Alice (Pequignot) Mumaw.

Don is survived by his wife, Norma (Egbert) Mumaw whom he married January 27, 1947; daughters & son-in-law, Connie & Darrel Niekamp of Celina and Peggy Mumaw Lundvall of Greenville; grandchildren, Ric & Maria Niekamp, Doug Niekamp & fiancée, Tasha Langenkamp, Tami & Chuck Rammel, Dan Niekamp and Heather & Mark Bruner; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Denlinger of Dayton and Joann Jordan of Sidney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was also preceded in death by a granddaughter-in-law, Sheree Niekamp; and brothers, Bob, Ralph and Earl Mumaw.

Don served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Don retired from Mikesell’s where he delivered potato chips for 35 years. He was a life member of the Versailles Vet’s Club and a member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Daniel Berdine officiating. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
