Dale E. Anderson

Dale E. Anderson, 88, of New Madison, passed away on May 24, 2017 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.

Dale was born on May 13, 1929 in, Preble County, OH, to the late Stanley and Bertha (Heckman) Anderson.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Anderson.

Dale was a very special and unique man. He was a self-employed entrepreneur. He had his hand in several things, including a service station, a car dealership, a farm and housing subdivision. He was the Assistant Chief of the New Madison Fire Department and the New Madison Police Officer for a time. Dale and Janice traveled the world and really enjoyed the cruises they took together. Dale’s passion was fishing. It has been said that you could fill a house, from floor to ceiling, with all the fish he’s caught over the years. He and Janice had a home in Michigan and Florida, so depending on the time of year would determine what fish he would be catching.

Dale is survived by his wife Janice (Beasley) Anderson, whom he married May 2, 1948; his children, Mark (Leah) Anderson of Spencerville, Indiana, Cathy (Alan) Corn of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Brian (Sharon) Anderson of New Madison, Ohio; grandchildren, Evan (Stephanie) Anderson of Troy, Ohio, Lauren (Brandon) Armstrong of Farmland, Indiana, Jennifer (David) Evans of Westfield, Indiana, Amy (Jason) Kabot of Huntertown, Indiana, Elizabeth (Ken) Lawson of Greenfield, Indiana, Catherine (Matt) McNew of New Madison, Ohio, Julie (Joel) Schroeder of Leo, Indiana, and Emily (Jason) Vertullo of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at New Madison First United Methodist Church, 149 N. Main Street, New Madison, with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, through their website www.michaeljfox.org.

Family has entrusted services to Braund Pope and Oliver Floyd Funeral Homes.
