James “Kearney” Pequignot

James “Kearney” Pequignot, age 71, of Tipp City passed away at 2:35 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at his residence.

Kearney was born December 22, 1945, in Greenville to the late Hubert G. & Naomi (Swartz) Pequignot. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Peg Baltes and Patricia Rauckhorst.

Kearney is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Taylor) Pequignot whom he married May 15, 1969; sons & daughter-in-law, William Pequignot of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Thomas & Amy Pequignot serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Bailey Pequignot, Drew Pequignot and Alex Pequignot; sisters & brothers-in-law, Kay & Ed Coons of Versailles and Jeanne & Jack Turpen of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kearney served in the U.S. Navy detached to the 1st Marine Division as a Corpsman during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipp City. He formerly served as Commissioner and Troop Leader of the Boy Scouts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Duell celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with full Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions may be made to Needy Basket (Food Pantry) Treasurer 330 South Fifth St. Tipp City, OH 45371.
