Virginia R. Elam

Virginia R. Elam, 85, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 17 , 2017.

She was born August 18, 1932 in Pineville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Clyde Stokes and Bessie Evans. Virginia and Charles Elam married in 1955 and spent the next 34 years dedicated to each other and their children. Charles passed away August, 1989.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Martina (Mike) Beach of Morristown, Tennessee, Sharon Elam of Greenville, and Karen Murphy of Greenville; two sons, Roger Elam of Springboro, Ohio, and Randy (Trish) Elam of Greenville; and her brother, Ronald (Carolyn) Evans. Virginia had many grandchildren along with many great grandchildren as well.

In addition to Charles, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Tab Elam; brother, Roy "Jack" Stokes; and a sister, Marie Horton.

Virginia was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was also a devout Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church, Greenville, Ohio. Virginia had many very good friends throughout her years and enjoyed the times spent with them.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9 AM to 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 7233 St. Rt. 121 N., Greenville, with a memorial service following with Pastor Jimmy Elam officiating. There will be a short graveside service at Stelvideo Cemetery following the memorial service. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Charity of Choice.
