Barry Alexander

Barry Alexander, 64, of Hollansburg, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

He was born on January 30, 1953 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Maurice and Charlene (Moore) Alexander.

A 1971 graduate of Westmont High School, Barry enjoyed being a firefighter for 31 years in the village of Hollansburg, as well as a lifelong farmer. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge in Greenville and the Ohio Farm Bureau. Barry was friendly and sociable and the kindest person you would ever meet. He thoroughly enjoyed being around people.

In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Alexander in 2014, and his brother-in-law, Robert Meder in 2010.

Barry is survived by his step-sons, Kenneth Flatter of Hollansburg, and Tom (Stacy) Flatter of New Madison; his grandchildren, Michael Flatter, Dalton Flatter, Dillon Flatter, Amanda (Michael) Dyson; his great grandsons, Ashdon and Carsen Dyson; his sister, Marilea Meder of Michigan; his nieces, Bethany Thomson and family of Indiana and Jennifer Forest and family of Michigan; and his extended family and many good friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Village Rescue, 320 N Main St, New Madison, OH 45346 or Hollansburg Fire Department, 109 E. Union Street, Hollansburg, Ohio 45346
