Benton Charles Oliver

Benton Charles Oliver, 79, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

He was born on January 11, 1941, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Gladden C. and Pauline Gertrude (Ault) Oliver.

In addition to his parents, Benton was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Spencer.

Benton retired from Federated Funeral Directors of America after 25 years of service. Before that, he and his family owned and operated Oliver Funeral Homes in Greenville and Ansonia. He was a member and past Master of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143, a member of King Solomon Lodge #6 in Gallatin, a member of Scottish Rite and Al Menah Shriner in Nashville, and a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Gallatin.

Benton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie (Spitler) Oliver; his children Rebecca Reed and her husband, Keith, of South Lebanon, Ohio, Timothy Oliver and his wife, Claire, of Milford, Ohio, and Michael Oliver and his wife, Kay, of Bethpage, Tennessee; his five grandchildren, Lincoln Reed and his wife, Gabby, Olivia Reed, Samuel Oliver, Nora Oliver, and Kaitlyn Oliver; and his brother, Roger Oliver and his wife, Jerri, of Greenville.

A celebration of Benton’s life will take place at 3:30 PM on Monday, March 9, 2020, at the Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Gallatin, Tennessee, with Rev. Sean Stanfield officiating. Guests may visit from 12:30 until the time of services also at the church.

Burial, with a Masonic Memorial Service provided by the Greenville Masonic Lodge, will take place at Greenville Union Cemetery on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 12:00 Noon.

The family has entrusted Tribute Funeral Homes and Family Heritage Funeral Home with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or the Rehoboth United Methodist Church.
