Mildred V. (Melling) McGriff Dilyerd

Mildred V. (Melling) McGriff Dilyerd, 92, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
 
She was born on October 24, 1928, in Savona, Ohio, to the late Roy and Lorene (Brandon) Melling.
 
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Riley McGriff; her second husband, Earl Dilyerd; her brothers, Roy Melling, Jr., and Donald Melling; and her sisters, Betty Lou Melling, Lucille Greer, and Helen Snyder.
 
Mildred loved her family. They were the world to her, and she loved to care for them. From Sunday dinners to family reunions, Mildred loved cooking for her family and would often prepare enough food for the entire neighborhood. She, and her husband, Riley, owned McGriff’s Radio and TV Sales and Service in Castine, Ohio, for many years. She worked alongside Riley for nearly 20 years as a TV technician.
 
Mildred enjoyed gardening and would often can her produce. She also liked to go mushroom hunting with her husband and siblings. In Mildred’s free time, she enjoyed sewing. In fact, while she was at the BRC, she had two sewing machines in her room with a supply cabinet filled with materials. Also, at the BRC Mildred was an avid bingo player. She rarely missed a game of bingo with her friends.
 
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Linda (Hugh) Alderson of Englewood, Ohio, and Bonnie (Willie) Schuch of Willis, Texas; her grandchildren, Amy Hill of Englewood, and Ryan (Heather) Hill of Greenville; her great grandchildren, Wesley, Breanna, Rylee, Ashley, Mariah, Zalynn, and Easton; her great-great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Alan, Ava, and Zaydan; her siblings, Bobby Melling of Greenville, Dick Melling of Greenville, Galen Melling of Greenville, Larry (Jill) Melling of Bradford, and Louise Hileman of Greenville; her sister-in-law, Joyce Melling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
A celebration of Mildred’s life will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Tribute Funeral Homes, with Pastor Coleen Beasecker officiating. Burial will follow in Castine Cemetery.
 
Guests may visit with her family on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.
