Darke County Chamber Endorses and Joins
Campaign for Jobs
Following a seismic election like the one we saw last fall it is
important to take stock and remember what voters were saying and why.
The message was loud and clear from every corner of Ohio; “we need jobs
and we need them now.” Unified – not by party, gender or background,
but by a common need – voters demanded solutions and bold ideas.
Recognizing the message and seeing the state of our economy, the Ohio
Chamber of Commerce kicked off 2011 by launching the Campaign for Jobs.
As the voice for business in Darke County, the Darke County Chamber of
Commerce has formally endorsed the Campaign and will be a strong
partner in creating jobs, growing our economy and making Ohio
competitive once again.
Built on the principles needed to create jobs and spur economic growth,
the Campaign for Jobs is an aggressive campaign platform made of ten
key planks. Redesigning a 21st Century Government, Lowering Business
Costs, Restructuring Economic Development, Streamlining Government
Regulations and Transforming Ohio’s Tax Climate are just some of the
planks of the Campaign. These planks are all essential to job creation
and getting Ohio back to work again.
Equally important to the platform is a strong grassroots component.
Building on the growing network of advocates already in place, the Ohio
Chamber has created the Campaign for Jobs – to educate policy makers
and engage members of the business community. Businesses can serve as
leaders within our communities while playing an integral role in the
Campaign’s success.
Unlike most campaigns supporting or opposing a candidate or issue on
the ballot, the Campaign for Jobs is for everyone. It’s about jobs and
that is something we can all get behind. The Campaign supports change,
innovation and progress instead of the status quo and complacency.
Recognizing the unique and dire circumstances we find ourselves in
today, the Campaign for Jobs seizes on an opportunity to Make Ohio
Great Again!
Now is the time to act. No longer can we continue to pretend the
realities we find ourselves up against will simply fade away. Ohio must
change in order to compete not just on a regional level, but on a
global level. We need to once again find the swagger and pride we as
Ohioans once had as leaders and drivers of the economy. We have the
talent, we have the resources and we have the motivation. Now it is
time to act.
