Pass the Jobs Bill NOW!
By Truman Scott

With the east coast devastated, now is the time to begin putting people back to work re-building our infrastructure.  This process could begin on both coasts with one working east while the other works west.  We could have a 21st Century “Driving of the Golden Spike” somewhere in the middle of the U.S. when the job is complete.

This would immediately begin the lowering the unemployment rate and we could do a complete overall of our infrastructure that would bring our buildings, highways, and waterways “up to code” and help defend us against calamities such as we have seen in the last week in New York and New Jersey.

Putting power lines underground all over the country would help prevent power losses.  These “bunkers” could be made to withstand hurricane/tornado winds, earthquakes, and flooding.  Our science can make this possible.  It may cost more originally, but in the long haul, imagine the money saved by planning ahead for these catastrophes?

With safety foremost in the minds of the engineers, we could begin providing our population with new and safer housing, and the older homes could be retrofitted with structural safety to protect ourselves.  These homes could be self-sustained with food, medical supplies and waste disposal factored in.

At the same time, we need to eliminate carbon emissions into the atmosphere that cause these atmospheric changes in the first place.  Our nation needs to begin using all resources including “clean coal”, natural gas geothermal, solar, wind and even the tides to produce energy that is carbon free.

Imagine the economic boost and pride that could be felt with the coming together of Americans to complete such a project?

Bring back the pride and pass the Jobs Bill NOW!
