Ohio Republican Party - Greetings!

I want to give you a special update about an initiative underway at the Ohio Republican Party to expand our grassroots organization through a new Coalitions Program.

From elections for the White House to Courthouse voters share their specific interests about important issues that unite us. These key issues drive support for our Republican candidates. And every election cycle both national and state campaigns spend precious time and resources hastily recreating grassroots outreach programs that disappear soon after the election is over.

The Ohio Republican Party has been at work building seven new coalitions that will become permanent organizational arms of the Party. The new Ohio Republican Party coalitions include:

Agriculture Coalition

Sportsmen Federation

Faith and Values Coalition

2nd Amendment Rights Advocates

Veterans Coalition

Small Business Owners Alliance

Educators Coalition

These coalitions will be a permanent network for all 88 Ohio counties. The members of each coalition will lead voter registration and issue advocacy activities at community events and also help to recruit new volunteers.

A Successful Start

Last week, members of our Sportsmen Federation, Veterans Coalition and Agriculture Coalition gathered at ORP headquarters to plan outreach efforts and identify county coordinators. Once leadership teams are put in place, each coalition will host kick-off events this fall.

Key leaders of the Ohio Republican Party Sportsmen Federation met on Saturday, April 6 to plan for a Fish Fry kick-off event in August and other smaller regional outreach events this summer. Mike Budzik from Hocking County will lead the next meeting at the Black Wing Shooting Center in Deleware in May.

State Senator Frank LaRose, an Iraq  war veteran from Akron is leading our Veterans Coalition. Their first meeting was on Sunday, April 7 and members began to identify their 88 county coordinators and plan future events.

The largest employment sector in Ohio is agriculture and agribusiness. We are fortunate to have State Senator Bob Peterson, an eighth generation family farmer in Fayette County leading this coalition. His co-chair is longtime Republican activist Terry McClure, a farm business owner in Paulding County. Coalition members met on Monday, April 8 and discussed future GOP activities for county fair season this summer.

Moving Forward

We will share more information with you as coalition activities begin in the summer and fall.  Please share this email with anyone you think may be interested in joining our new coalitions program.  If you would like to get involved in your county or would like more information, please contact Susan Waidner, our new Coalitions Director, at (614) 228-2481 or by email waidner@ohiogop.org.

In addition to our coalitions program, we are also building support for our auxiliary organizations such as the Ohio Latino Republican and Ohio Teenage Republican groups.

Ohio Latino Republicans

We are pleased to announce that Grace Ramos, a Republican leader from Greene County, will launch the Ohio Latino Republican group. A meeting is planned for May, and the group will begin a localized outreach program this summer.  If you are interested in joining our Ohio Latino Republicans advisory board or to become a member, please contact Susan Waidner, Coalitions Director, at (614) 228-2481 or by email waidner@ohiogop.org.

Ohio Teenage Republicans

A special thank you in advance to Butler County Chairman David Kern and leaders of the Butler County Teenage Republicans for their help preparing chapter start-up materials for our new Ohio Teenage Republican group. The Butler County Teenage Republicans are an impressive success story that we want to replicate across Ohio. If you are interested in starting a Teenage Republican Club, please let us know!

For news and updates from our new groups and coalitions, follow our new Twitter account @ORPoutreach.

Please support these new initiatives and let us know if you would like to be involved!

Sincerely,

Matt Borges
