Life with Levi
Oh, what a night!

I am glad that Levi is basically a healthy child.

Because if I had nights like last night very often, I think I’d end up in the funny farm!

The reason behind all of the fun we had last night is a tooth. One little tooth. To be more specific, a molar.

It’s halfway in at the moment… And it better hurry up unless is wants to feel this Mommy’s wrath!

Levi has been cranky and WHINEY for the last week. And finally, on Saturday, I got confirmation of why. I got him giggling and while he was laughing, I saw the culprit: his bottom left two-year molar.

Up until Sunday afternoon, it really hadn’t done much besides make Levi somewhat unbearable to live with.

But Sunday evening, it reared it’s ugly, little tiny head and let loose.

Levi threw up. For a short while, I didn’t think he was ever going to stop. And all I’ll say is Oreo cookies and milk don’t look quite as appealing as the commercials show the second time around.

But Levi didn’t mind. Throwing up now means bath to Levi. What fun!

So after a bath, and some medicine, Levi went to bed.

Not very long after, more puke. And another bath. And back to bed.

And all seemed well for a while.

Until around 1 a.m. Mommy could hear Levi groaning from down the hall. Daddy went to check on him and said he just felt a little chilly. So he covered Levi and came back to bed.

But all was not well.

Mommy went to check on Levi again after ten more minutes of moaning. And Mommy found that Levi was burning up!

So Mommy decided that she would take the overly warm baby out to sleep on the couch so that his temperature could be monitored.

But that didn’t last long either. More puke. And another bath.

This bath was an extended bath though since Mommy was also trying to get his temperature down.

Not sure if it was the fever talking or lack of sleep, but Levi was very emotional during this bath. He demanded “bubble waters,” which is more commonly know as a bubble bath five minutes after he got in the tub. Not the easiest thing to do, let me tell ya. Bubble baths are much more easily created when the water is running. Then as he started playing in his newly created “bubble waters,” he looks up at me and says, “Mommy, I peed.”

Great!

So Mommy drained the tub, all the while trying to explain to an emotional Levi that he cannot pee in the tub and that he cannot get clean in water that has been peed in.

Finally, the tub was empty and Mommy began to fill it again. This time, with bubble waters.

After about a half an hour, I asked Levi if he was ready to get out (keep in mind, it’s like 2:30 in the morning at this point). Levi looks at me and says, “No!”

We’ve been working with him on being polite, and how you should ask nicely for things, which is why I was even asking him at all. Normally, the plug would have been pulled and bath time would have been over.

So a couple minutes later, I asked again. And he said no again.

This time I tried another tactic: acting like him. This is how the conversation went:

Me: “But Levi, Mommy wants to watch Thomas (the train).”

Levi: “No, Mommy!”

Me: “But Levi, please? Mommy really wants to watch Thomas.”

Levi: “No! Stop it right now, Mommy!”

At that I had to stop. And laugh. And ask him to repeat himself.

Again, Levi said, “Stop it right now!”

A little flashback here: The last week or so, when Levi got whiney, I would tell him, “Levi, you need to stop it right now,” referring to his whining.

So I had to laugh at his response to my whining. He really has been paying attention, even if he hasn’t been listening!

I kindly told him that he’s not allowed to talk to Mommy and Daddy like that, and drained the tub.

After some more medicine, we cuddled up on the couch again. Thankfully, around 4 a.m., Levi’s fever had broken and he finally fell asleep.

As I write this on Monday afternoon, there has been no more puke, no more baths, but lots of whining.

Back to regular old life with Levi!
