Life’s Challenges
By Kathy Magoto

Life is busy and it seems that we all walk a thin line in life.  It’s a constant balancing act between our civic responsibilities, our personal and physical well being, as well as our spiritual growth.  For most of us we lose our peace when we struggle to find enough time, energy or money to accomplish the goals we deem important.

For example, a friend of mine has been working lots of overtime, they have no personal time to rejuvenate or attend their family commitments, which involve baseball games, track meets, and birthday celebrations.  Of course the positive side of their current situation is their job is providing them with the ability to pay their bills and build a savings.  The downside is they don’t get to spend time with their loved ones and life is passing them by.

Another friend of mine has had their hours cut and has to continue maintaining their household with a reduction of income.  They now have time for themselves, their family and all the events in life, however they have to go into “conservation mode” since they do not know if their job will continue to decline.

Life happens, but rarely according to our plan.  Ever venture to say how many ups and downs occur in any person’s life?  Innumerable!  Nonetheless we all experience the peaks and valleys of life but somehow we manage to pull ourselves up and move forward.  Perhaps the lesson in life’s challenges is not just to overcome them but how we overcome them.   Two great ways to ease the burdens of life are attitude and friendships.  Depending on our attitude a challenge may only be a bump in the road. And when we are surrounded by a loving family and faithful friends to share our life the path is even smoother, because friendships double your joys and divides your sorrows.

Wishing you peace, joy, love, health, happiness, in other words--balance.
