And most politicians spend a lifetime trying to hide from it.   

Leaving religious thoughts aside, for the purpose of a more politically based discussion, this Light is indeed what we are about as a country, and a culture, and where we are from.   

And where we should be going, too, save for the hundreds of well positioned pols who move among us with “blackout” shades always in hand, ever at the ready to thwart and to darken what is so real, so basic, and so needed by any society.   

This Light, our Light, is the Freedom, personal and national, given to us by those remarkable patriots and Founders from long ago, and enhanced so bravely and mightily, by so many since.  

It is the Liberty to act upon these freedoms, and to enjoy and revel in them, yet another irreplaceable gift from those astounding American originals.  

But it is also so much more, and emanates from so many other important points of origin.  

It is something as simple as common sense, and the things that “make sense”, from our government, and for ourselves.   

It is the “Pursuit of Happiness”, in our lives, loves, passions, jobs, and families, and leaving people alone to look for, and to find, and so to be able to afford, these wonderful things.   

It is Teamwork, and shared responsibility.   Sharing the load, as well as the consequences, and working together for the common good.  

It is unselfishness, and selflessness, and doing what is rightfully our fair share.  And having pride in ourselves, and in our lives, and being an addition to, and not a subtractor from, the national effort.     

In this country, and in our uniquely American culture, it is about honoring the wants and needs of the majority, while doing what’s right for as many as possible, and letting the People decide which is the correct path to these ends.   

Our Light is from doing the things that work, and what is right, despite any perceived slights, and imagined or manufactured social injustices.  

And it comes from something as basic as fiscal and financial responsibility, and insuring that our future generations do not suffer from any of our budgetary missteps, self-indulgences, and eccentricities.  

Modern and current politicians, including our President, and most of our national leaders and legislators, and many of our state governors, cannot see this favored Light.  

If and when they do, it frightens them, and repulses them, and makes them pull back from anything that might expose them to it for too long, nor to any extent more than is absolutely necessary, for their furtherance in office.   

It just so happens that this Light, this marvelous Light, from its multitude of hopes, dreams, and derivations, is at cross purposes with these men and women.  They stand nothing to gain from it, and fight with it whenever possible.   

But they do so from its shadows, and behind the scenes, and from wherever it is darker and not too public, while telling us just the opposite, and that they would never do such an unpatriotic thing. 

In fact, very “patriotic” horns, parades, confetti, and lots of free hats, beer, and barbeque, usually come along with these phony declarations of “doing the right thing”, and “I’ll do the best for my people”, ad nauseam.  

However, we know better (even though too many of us still remain unconvinced, and unmoved to action), that earmarks, pork barrels, special favors, scratching of backs, and greasing of palms do not work very well, with too much illumination. 

What scares the pols most about this Light, is that for all its other amazing qualities and properties, it also possesses a foolproof honesty/b.s. detector, which creates for them, along with almost any other form of transparency inflictor, a scene far too reminiscent of those last terrifying (for them) moments of the “Wicked Witch of the West”, hard by the Emerald City (/DC).   

Or more accurately, what might have befallen one of the “Twilight” characters, had they strolled out of doors, or peaked out a window, while the sun was still too high in the sky.   

No, much, much better that they Hide from this special Light, making sure there be no confrontation with it in the clear of day.   For they know, in their wicked and withered little demented hearts, that this Light, our Light, is the all the right stuff, and all the things that make a people strong, and a society and a culture work.  And as well, provides it with the motivation, the energy, and the faith that it will continue. 
 

whole of the country, “Public Good” would be in jeopardy.  

For, as all but this small, but way too powerful group, knows to be true (but even they know, really, we just haven’t had the strength as a nation to make them admit it, nor to make them honor us with that knowledge), our wonderful Light has its unique and only origins, “….Of the People, By the People, and For the People….”, and should never, indeed ever, “….perish from this earth”.   Nor from this country’s collective consciousness.
