U.S. Representative John Boehner
Premiums Rising in Ohio Due to President's Health Care Law

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman John Boehner (R – West Chester) today issued the below statement following a report released this week by the Ohio Department of Insurance. The report shows that average premiums are increasing by 13 percent for individuals and 11 percent for small businesses for health plans sold in 2015 on the federal exchange created by the president’s health care law.

I wish I could say I’m surprised by the report released this week by the Ohio Department of Insurance, but I’ve heard countless horror stories from families and small businesses in our local area, and this is something that we’ve anticipated for a long time now,” Boehner said. “For example, I just heard from Lauren, a single mom in New Carlisle, who shared with me that her premium has already spiked $200 because of ObamaCare. Lauren’s not alone, and, unfortunately, I think the worst is yet to come.

Stories like Lauren’s are why I’ve fought every day to repeal the president’s health care law and start over. As I’ve said many times – this law can’t be fixed. It needs to be torn out by its roots, and this report from the Ohio Department of Insurance is just more proof of that.

As long as this law is around and making things worse, I’m going to keep fighting to repeal it and take a step-by-step approach to health care reform that begins with lowering costs and protecting jobs.”
