From the Other Side of the Edge….
America Needs Rand Paul….  (Uh, …do we see a pattern here??)
By Joe Facinoli

It’s the rare moment when I agree with anything that former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley might utter (read:   Never), but this time, …he got one right.

Last week, on one of the endless national talking heads TV shows, the erstwhile “tax and spend” King of all governors (maybe ever), said that the U.S. Presidency should NOT be the dominion of just two famous families, and should be open to “new perspectives”, and “new leadership”.

Boy Howdy!

The good Gov, …who never met a tax nor a “fee” that he didn’t salivate over (and get as excited as a teenage boy, who’s about to get to second base for the first time), …sure said a mouthful this time.

I mean….   Jeb Bush?     Really???

The same misguided and ill-conceived approach, wrong-headed thinking, and “old-boy” style of the first two Bushes.    And how’d it go for them??

He even looks like an “old line”, out of touch politician.

Either that, or your fifth grade teacher, ruler in hand, waiting to smack your knuckles, …or your banker, who is about to turn down your loan application (for the third time), and threaten your family, over your overdrawn checking account.

Hey Jeb, …pale gray suits, and horned rimmed glasses, went out with Barry Goldwater, about five decades ago.    A visit to Men’s Wearhouse, …and the Mall optician, might just fix you up.

And Hillary??     I mean,  ….c’mon.

That ship sailed long ago, and went down in the waters somewhere off Benghazi, …while overloaded with copies of tens of thousands of illegal emails, …and an equal number of more than questionable stock documents, from her infamous Arkansas days.

Hills baby, …give it up hon’.    Your nine lives ran out, …about 6 lives ago.

Only the proud and pure (used to be), and completely “unbiased” American press (threw up a little, in my mouth just then), is still smitten by your mysterious wiles anymore (must be the wrinkled pant suits, …or your “un-shampooed”, but oh so stylish coiffures).

And no one else, …really.

America needs help.     And we have, …for more than just a few years.

Marty O’Malley (who was portrayed perfectly, btw, as Tommy Carcetti, in the brilliant HBO series “The Wire”,  --check it out, if you didn’t know), has it dead spot on (for once).

Well, …even a broken clock, is right twice a day.

But (and it’s not rocket science here), we desperately need to move away from the politics and policies of the last 30 years, …which have driven us so to near to disaster, on so many fronts.

Rand Paul is just the latest good option.    Certainly better than most, and perhaps even the best choice for the job.

He, along with several other good ones, …some already in the “ring”, some still thinking about it.

And, …while none of them will be perfect, and nearly all potential candidates for America’s “Top Job” will have something about them that’s disagreeable, even distasteful, …we simply HAVE to go another way.

Enter the Republican Carousel of Conservative Can-Can dancers.

All of them have their own schticks, specific constituencies, …and their own version of the “high leg kick”.

And all will promote their own set of skills for getting the runaway American “train”, back on the track, …it’s just part of this gig.

But one thing all these folks do have in common, …that has not been seen on the national stage in quite some time, …is a deep belief in this country, and an ability to communicate that set of beliefs, successfully, to large groups of people.

They trust our country, and what it can still accomplish (just as it is, thank you very much), by using the tools provided to us, from over two centuries ago, with the proper modifications, when needed, …but consented to by “we the people”.

And, …like them or not, agree with them or not, …there’s an element of common sense with all of them.     Something sorely missing, through the past three Presidential administrations.

Rand Paul doesn’t put up with the non-sense, foisted on Republicans and any conservatives, by the American media, …and they hate him and crucify him for that.

That’s a good thing, my friends, …a VERY good thing.

Ted Cruz carves his own way, and doesn’t care much who follows him, …because he is armed with the knowledge that he is trying to do things the way the Constitution instructs us.

In the American way, …the way of the Founders, and of so many past heroes who have sacrificed themselves to progress our nation forward, …while still taking care of ALL our own.

And not in some agenda-driven, pseudo-intellectual, Liberal distorted way, …of what they think that it means, …and tell us, accordingly.

Marco Rubio is still finding his path, but has the heart of someone who cares deeply for doing things the right way, …for the country which gave his family a second chance, …and for all people, but especially the wronged, from wherever, and for whatever reasons.

The most Presidential “looking” candidate of the bunch, seems to be Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin.

He fights unions, …and wins.    He fights Liberal nonsense, …and wins (three times, in five years).    And he is a clear thinker, on difficult issues, …just don’t ask the Major Media to agree with that, nor cover it fairly.

We need to get out of this rut (more like a “black hole”, actually), which dictates that every single group imaginable, or which can be conjured up, must be included completely, and on an absolutely equal basis, ..or else the entire system must stop, until everyone’s most whimsical political thoughts are satisfied.

Doesn’t work that way.    This is a Democracy.     The “Majority” wins.

That’s just 51% (for those who went to private schools) needed for approval or passage, …of anything!

Sometimes even less, …in those close, multi-candidate elections.

Which leaves potentially 49% or more of the electorate or citizenry, being very unhappy with the result.     But that’s the way it goes, Bunkie, …in a Democracy.

Don’t like it?    Then get better organized, and work harder for next time.    Just don’t try to stop the system, or the process, because you hate the winner.

America needs new blood, …new respect for our tried and true methods, …and God knows, …new leaders.

What we don’t need, is the same ol’ same ol’ group of inept, deceitful, corrupt, and brain-dead politicians, making the same bogus promises, telling the same shameful lies, ignoring our same national wishes, and stealing our same tax money, year after year after year.

Let’s try someone new, …from some new place or group.

What could it hurt?    And how much worse can they do??

Someone who, in time of personal stress and national uproar, after screwing up (and us) royally, won’t throw up their hands and say:

“What difference….does it make?”

Yes, that’s an extremely low bar, …but it’s where we are today.

Sad to have to think about it, that way, …but sure is refreshing.
