Darke County Senior Scribe
The Elephant in the Room
By Lois Wilson

Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the issues with her insightful look at the important events of the day.

This time it’s politics. Or more importantly, Republican politics. Remember when everyone insisted one candidate take the pledge to support the nominee of the party? Well… the voters have spoken and the elephant in the room has emerged…

Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend college. For additional information, contact editor@countynewsonline.org.

THE TRUMP CARD

They thought he didn’t have the edge,
That he would never sign the pledge.
So they all signed, then he did too.
He beat them out to earn his due.
His politics, a bit unique—
Some pledgers threw a fit of pique.
They do not endorse, too much pride,
Hope for an old horse for the ride.
Turning back their pledge shows the sign—
A party hack still toes the line.
