February’s Ice &
Snow Challenges
The recent ice and snow Darke Countians and Southwest Ohio residents
have been facing offer opportunities for beauty, and for challenges.
The unbroken stretch for the past several weeks has also led many to
“cabin fever.”
Some have chosen to depict the weather from their perspective. Angela
Chavez, Dayton, and Senior Scribe Lyn Bliss, Greenville, have sent
pictures of the beauty, and the danger, presented by Mother Nature. All
photos are credited to Bliss and Chavez. Senior Scribe Bev Hughes chose
to sit down at her computer keyboard and express her wishes for an
early spring.
Even the most challenging circumstances provide opportunities for
creativity… enjoy!

Monday, Tuesday hate this snow
Interrupting where I go
Important places I should be
Important things to do for me
Hurry, Spring, and set me free
Return my life.
Wednesday I was hunkered down
Watching snowflakes twirling round
Ice the prisoner, cold the guard
Couldn't realize this hard
Returned my life, returned my soul
Return, my soul.
Thursday all was crunch and bump
Hurry no where, time was trumped
While the car warmed sun broke through
Crystalizing every view
Returning life, returning soul
Return, my soul.
Friday noted few brave birds
Winging o'er the icy shards
Rainbow gems run on the fence
Blue shoots through each frosty branch
Returning life, returning soul
Return, my soul.
Saturday stirred up a breeze
Still unmoving cold-mold trees
But “tink a lac” sang cheaper chimes
Listen! Hypnotic lullabies
Returning life, returning soul
Return, my soul.
Sunday worship in this place
Humbled due to nature's face
Grateful for the lessons tethered
Prayerful for the plight of others
Returned my life, returned my soul
Returned my soul.
