Darke County Senior Scribes...
St. Patrick’s Day... Irish Cream
By Lois Wilson

From Darke County’s Senior Scribes Poet Laureate, a poetic missive about an Irish tradition... Irish Cream. Lois is a published author who plays poetically with everything from politics and the weather to our cherished holidays, often with wit and humor. Word has it she’s working on a new book... we’ll let you know when it becomes reality.

MIXED DRINK

Irish farmer Sean O’Shea
Was seen in town every day.
He sipped from a flask,
And I’d often ask,
“What are you drinking today?”

His eyes seemed brightly agleam;
His mouth would soon start to beam.
Old O’Shea was sly;
He’d always reply,
“Me favorite—Irish cream!”

Curious I asked him how
His Irish Cream packed no pow.
He laughed, “Young fellow,
True!  ‘Tis quite mellow
‘Cause ‘tis cream straight from me cow!”
