I Am Impressed!!
By Mona Lease

Hi, all!! I stared at the carpet in my family room in disbelief - how had it gotten in this condition? My mind scrolled back the 8 or 9 years I've had it. Over there was Buster's favorite place to pee when he figured he had whimpered and you let too much time pass before letting him out the door. I cleaned it with my steam cleaner every time. Rish had her spots, too - whatever her reasons were. But, I had cleaned them - I did, I did!!

There were other spots I had made and cleaned.

I had gotten a coupon booklet my Dad had gotten in the mail. I cut out a coupon from a carpet cleaning place. They said they steam cleaned. They said it was "new technology" - faster drying time - more powerful suction. They said they brought their own water. OK - I'll bite. I made the appointment. The guy was here this last Wednesday. He probably thought I was a bit daft in the head.

He brought in a vacuum sized hose, a smaller hose, and a wand. Like "white noise", I heard his engine start a fast idle. I sat cross-legged in the doorway of an  adjoining room and watched. As he moved from a cleaned area, I touched it - yup, it had powerful suction - the carpet was damp. I saw the water going into the carpet!

Like he and his craft/equipment are old friends, he moved furniture back into place - all the while answering my many questions..."What type of detergent do you use?" - "Acid base on the Ph scale...8oz. to 125 gallons of water. A common misconception is that...more is better. I bring my own water because then I know that with which I am working...rusty water hinders the action of the detergent. Water with a high chlorine content (like the villages that use that method to treat their drinking water) can take the color from the carpet." - "You use the vehicle exhaust to heat the water?" - "Yes. Copper tubes run through the exhaust pipe carrying the water. The exhaust temperature heats the water...the two do not mix." - "You say the drying time is 4-5 hours?" - "Usually, yes. It depends on the house and if it holds the dampness. Winter is the best time to clean carpets...you are already heating the house."

I was impressed with the results before he left. After he left, I crab-crawled across the carpet. It was damp but did not make my pants or socks wet. And the spots and stains were gone - just gone - they are, they are!! I am writing this the day after the cleaning. I am most impressed with the fact that there is no smell - good or bad...just clean carpet!!

My advise is to give this a try. My carpet was dry 3 hours later...the furnace was running normally. The one thing I can't tell you is the guy's name - sorry. For the rest of your questions call...JC's Custom Carpet Cleaning - 937-692-5903. Again, sorry Mr. JC...... I was more interested in what you could do with your knowledge and equipment than your name...and I already had your number!!

Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
