Whaddaya Think??
By Mona Lease

Hi, all! I've been listening to people tell me that Thanksgiving this year is going to be lean - really lean. Some are really upset that they cannot celebrate in their usual style. From long ago reading I've done, I remember  story. This is set back in the days of Kings and Queens - of Court Jesters - of pillaging and the "spoils of war."

There was this guy named Danny? - Dan? - Daniel. He and some friends were caught up in the spoils of war. The Kings always looked for the best of the best - the purest & smartest - the best physically. Guess who fit the bill. Yup - Daniel and his friends. They would be taken to the King's Palace and fed the finest meats, cheeses, rich broths & gravies, tasty desserts, and wine to drink. They were "fattened up" this way for a couple of years and then their "talents" would be used in the King's Court.

Imagine everyone's surprise when Daniel says he will not eat the King's food - period...not he; nor his friends! The Eunich (reasoning here is the young girls...and boys) in charge of the captives is dumbfounded! Daniel - Do you know what you are saying? You can not say no to the King!! Think what you are doing!!

Daniel says OK - try this. For 10 days feed me and my friends our usual diet - water and pulse (Latin for "puls")...that being grains, legumes, pinto beans, kidney beans, and lentils, etc. Puls was an actual crop used for rotation that had a pod containing 10 or 12 of the above mentioned. (I used Wikipedia for this). Puls fixes nitrogen - that is it converts nitrogen from the air into ammonia which gets into the soil.

At the end of the agreed upon time, Daniel and his friends are leaner and faster. I forget how the ending went. But - I listened to the people tell me their holiday fears and I wondered - Could the above story be true? The grains and such are high in protein and essential amino acids.

So maybe not being able to afford all of the "King's Diet" is not a bad thing. Maybe it is a blessing in disguise. Maybe it will save us in the future - especially with the insurance premiums being doubled - and people being dropped, etc.

And - I have a call in to John Boehner. On Nov. 19th, 2013 - on CNO -  John Boehner, US Representative, 8th Congressional District (that's us, folks) had a call to us - "Let me know your story." So, I called 1-800-582-1001. After 3 rings a man answered!! I spoke with him and he gave me another number. I've actually gotten to John's secretary! She e.mailed me that John is booked 3 months in advance - and probably so. I will let you know what happens next. I encourage you to read the article I cited previously. And, try the phone number - it can't hurt and it's free. You do not have to give your last name. I did not - he did not even ask! I was Mona of Greenville, Ohio. Give the diet a try. A girlfriend of mine did because her cholesterol was off the charts. She's back into her jeans and the cholesterol is in check. Her insurance demanded that she take medicine for it and the diet....Whaddaya think?

Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
