Real "Girl Talk"
By Mona Lease

Hi, all!! OK - this is for the girls - ladies - women. From last week's column - we don't get "off the hook" either. As much as it seems to go "against the grain" - we're gonna need to do some "guy stuff" with our guy. I do this stuff, too. I spoke to my Editor some time ago - he said to "write it." The words finally assembled themselves. On our household level - we're gonna have to get into each other's world...which means we're going to have to sit through a few "guy flicks" - you know - a woman fighting crime beside her man (sometimes "a" man, who ends up being her man - sounds all "Cinderella and glass slipper" to me...well, combat boot). See? - the mush is there - they just "gotta have" some violence...in the form of "protecting something." And here's where the rubber meets the road -

Ever notice how we, here in the USA, tend to throw sex or money at all or most of our problems? And the "cure" doesn't last long. GM - the "new GM", is recalling vehicles - I thought the "new GM" (government bailout - remember?) was our answer - guess not. Maybe we should have let them "take the hit?" - they are now. Maybe some people should have talked?

We sent "aid" to the people in the Ukraine. They were actually a group of people who got mad at Russia and left. I'm guessing the "aid" we sent is long gone. Should we have just told them to go back to Russia and make it all up with them? The last I heard - Russia sells oil to Germany. Russian President Putin thought Germany might help the people in the Ukraine so he told Germany that if that was their intent; they could pay the Ukraine oil bill. See how it spread? If what we sent in "aid" truly helped or solved the problem - Germany would never have had to be involved - you know - I'm guessing Germany did not call the Ukraine and offer help.

As for the Benghazi episode - we have no colsulate in Syria - does that mean that we have no "business" there? No one has an answer for me concerning that. A couple of weeks ago now - Syrian forces took over Iraq, stormed into Mosul, freed hundreds of prisoners, and relieved the bank of it's money...so much for money being safe in a bank or the public being safe from criminals.

Was it in 2005 that scrap metal was about $500 a ton? I watched people drive vehicles into the scrap yard and hand over the title & keys in Celina. A man sat inside the gate in a van, with a money box and a gun - for real! We sold our old gold, platinum (dross off of the gold), and silver. We've been told that there is a "new, improved" diamond. It is man-made - better - less hassle, less pricey! A diamond is the hardest substance on the face of the Earth! When I was a kiddie - saw blades were tipped with diamond. Bad deal if you were the seller - they lasted too long.

With the above in mind - I'll add this: This is true, too - I listened as an old, dying woman told her 52 year old son to "do the right thing." Now; this would be okay if she had told him somewhere - anywhere in his past. He has no clue what the "right thing" is - learning that is a day-by-day deal...situations change - sometimes it is better to "take what looks like a hit" now, if you know how to "look down the road." Sometimes it is better to "fold on a winning hand" and maybe keep your dignity, social standing, etc.

We, as a people, are the sickest we have been - I believe. For the sake of the "paper god" - I've watched people refuse medical treatment if the insurance will not pay. My only question is: Would now be a good time to turn to each other - really turn? Or - do we wait for Another?

Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
