A Warning?

Hi, all!! I was speaking to a family friend yesterday. As we spoke further, an unsettling thought swirled through my mind. We spoke of our current President - how he got elected - twice...We dissected what promises were offered - and not upheld. We looked at how the whole Benghazi Tragedy happened.

We traced backwards to our current President's campaign - remember? Remember the girls following him from one "Whistlestop Campaign" to the next? - They had on long dresses with the long, puffy "Poet Sleeves" - long hair with headbands of small white flowers - Baby's Breath - I think. As a country, part of an Allied Force - We thought we were an Elite Force - unstoppable with the 'Nam situation and all. Remember the whole "Make Love Not War" motto? And the "Love-ins" that were staged - namely Haight-Ashbury Park in San Francisco? 1967 was the "Summer of Love." A sister gathering was held in Greenwich Village. These participants - "Flower Children" - were protesting an illegal and immoral war" ...Some called VietNam a "Police Action" - that war was never declared with anyone other than North and South VietNam. It would be on December 8, 1969; that President Nixon announced that 'Nam was ending - and March 29, 1973; the USA ended it's military involvement in VietNam. (From Wikipedia). I think the girls in our current President's "campaign supporters", that were wearing the flowers in their hair, etc. - made us remember the "love & peace" theme of the '60's and we forgot about the 58,220 US military casualties (that's just the USA, folks!) that bought us the feeling of being "unstoppable." (From Wikipedia).

And our current President dresses like John F. Kennedy...a man who died way too young..a name immortalized with the renaming of Cape Canaveral to "Kennedy Space Center"...He was young, good-looking, dressed somberly - only thing "flashy" was his smile.."Poor guy never had a chance to do anything of his own" - Eisenhower handed him "The Bay of Pigs" - along with the Presidency. And - Obama came from Illinois - like Abraham Lincoln did - you remember - Lincoln was a "self-educated lawyer" - As President, he led us through our Civil War - touted "our greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis." And the result was abolished slavery, a strengthened Federal Government, and a modernized economy. (From Wikipedia).

Do you suppose all of the above "feel good" stuff and the fact that Kennedy kind of got "cheated out of his personal best", got us on the wrong track? Did we just assume that because our current President "looked the part" - that he really was?

Is that how easily we can be deceived? Is that all it takes - a few "good-sounding promises" and a "flashy smile from a somber suit?" And - no one wondered why - in the middle of a campaign - Hillary Clinton just "up and quit??" Especially when she "entered the ring" with her "gloves on" - yelling and campaigning from Hour One?

Here's the unsettling thought - I have a girlfriend who is a "Convicted Christian" - Blood Bought forever - Yup, Yes & Uh-Huh!! She's waiting for Jesus to return...I'm not mocking her in any way, but - If we could not tell the real from the fake in our current President - how would you tell whether Jesus was really Jesus - or just someone who resembled the "idea" - clothes, walk, maybe even a few good things that "seem to really happen."
