Oh, Diogenes!!

Hi, all!! On my laptop I have a "newsfeed" - current world events and
such. Maybe all computers have this. I read Sunday evening (1/15) that
President-Elect Trump says NATO is "obsolete" and thinks the USA should
"hammer out" a nuclear arms agreement with Russia only. Now many
countries within the alliance are "up in arms"...sorry I could not
resist the pun. Seriously though:
NATO is an agreement between: Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada,
Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estoria, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands,
Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United
Kingdom and the United States...as of 30 June 2016, 18:37 (6:37
am)...so the website says. NATO is: National Atlantic Treaty
Organization.
The EU - or European Union took a hit from President-Elect Trump as
well. During Trump's campaign he was embracing the anti-insurgents. On
Monday (1/16), Trump said that the EU is bound to break up and he is
indifferent to it's fate. This means some European leaders will stand
alone without the USA on their side. The European Union's members are
the same as NATO's with the addition of: Austria, Cypress, Finland,
Malta, Spain and Sweden.
In amongst all the legal "mumbo-jumbo"....what treaty with whom started
this whole idea, is the bottom-line: All of those who've signed the
NATO or European Union are saying in effect: "If one of us has a
problem (war, war-like crimes, etc) we all have a problem. We got your
back. We will send aid. (My words here.)" Notice that Russia and China
have signed neither the NATO nor the EU agreements.
Add to the above this: An "anonymous" senior administration official of
the US Government said Obama repealed the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966,
which essentially said: "...anyone who fled Cuba and entered the USA
would be allowed to pursue residency a year later. Clinton's
administration agreed with Cuba and we (the USA) would stop admitting
people that had been intercepted in US waters. This is known as the
"Wet foot, Dry foot" policy and anyone caught on waters between the two
nations (Cuba and the USA) would be sent back home or to a third
country.
Now - between the NATO and the EU (European Union) Treaties...33
countries have signed. Twenty-seven countries have signed both.
Remember that Russia and China have signed neither. Trump wants to drop
NATO (The USA never signed the European Union Treaty) and "sign
exclusively" with Russia. If and when the bullets start flying and
there are those "European Heads of State" that will back Trump (Germany
already confirmed this), consider:
How many of you readers watched the movie "Scarface" starring Al
Pacino? Long story short (3 hour movie): Based on Castro emptying his
prisons - Pacino gets into the USA, becomes a huge drug lord (no honor
among these), and a rival takes him out in the last scene. Al
Pacino's head is not "on top" as it should be since he started using
the drugs he was selling. He sees his enemy arrive through
closed-circuit tv cameras throughout his property. With a gun that will
reduce a solid oak door to splinters he and his "little friend" shoot
their way out of his second-story office and onto an indoor balcony.
The enemy enters - lots of them and the bullets start flying. Amidst
the flying bullets a black man - clad entirely in black enters. One
man...one gun...one bullet and Pacino does a swan-dive over the balcony
and dies. Question: Could it be that easy in real-life to take out a
"high-powered' person??
Diogenes was a Greek Philosopher who "thumbed his nose" at money.
Reportedly he carried a lantern in the daytime and shined it in the
faces of people at the markets... "looking for an honest man." I've
always wondered about the lantern in the day thing...was he trying to
show the "darkness" of mens' hearts and minds?? Diogenes was born c.
412 BCE. Oh, Diogenes...we could use your wisdom now. You were ahead of
your time. Maybe there really is nothing new under the sun.
