Mind, Body, Soul
Holidays and Truth
By Mona Lease

Greetings, Gals!! OK - I admit it. I wondered why all of the hurt feelings, depression, anxiety, and such. Then - like a lightning bolt - it hit me. We're in the season where more people commit suicide...where more people fall prey to the constant barrage of the "holiday banter". We've all heard it...we've all seen it.

Pictures of a blushing bride and a beaming groom in front of a Christmas Tree....are seemingly everywhere. Pictures of pictures - of happy couples...of happy families... seem to taunt us from store-front windows.

Buy that huge...one carat...princess-cut diamond ring. 18 carat gold, of course. "Show her how much you love her." For kicks - I looked up the price of this ring. $6,500...before tax...as a ballpark figure.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching. And there are places all over that offer a cooked "Turkey Day" dinner...with all of the trimmings. That's a good thing. But not everyone wants to stand in line - or be around those they do not know. What to do here - what to do.

We all want the "love and stuff" of the season. These holidays are really only five days....5 days. Those 5 days being: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day...respectively.

My advice is: "Buy that watch...that outfit...that ring...that necklace...or whatever you desire. Buy some chocolates for yourself. Wrap them up and put them under your tree - or wherever you put them. DO NOT OPEN until Christmas Day...or whenever you celebrate this holiday.

After you open them - get yourself ready....put on your "presents" and go out somewhere. There is always something open. A lot of steakhouses have a holiday buffet. Drop in...get a piece of pie and some coffee. Leave if you are not "in tune" with the atmosphere.

I'll leave you with a few "thinking things."
