Lady Wave look good in annual alumni scrimmage

GREENVILLE- The Lady Wave offense got off to a slow start against the Greenville alumni Saturday but came on strong, gaining a 4-0 victory in the annual scrimmage.

The Wave scored a late first half goal then scored three in the second half, much to the delight of Wave coach Justin Gonzalez.

"We have a force out there in Aubrey DeVoss and Jessica Kerg" said Gonzalez. "Combine them with our mids, Ashton Kester and Chelsie Stoudt; we are looking for a very exciting season. We scored four goals against a very good alumni team so I'm very pleased with the offense today."

On defense, the Wave threw a shut-out.

Another positive for Gonzalez.

"My defense was excellent," Gonzalez pointed out. "I didn't see any slackers out there on the alumni team so I'm very happy with my defense. I think what made the defensive showing even better was the fact that one of our best defensive players, MaKayla Byers, wasn't here tonight. So that made the win on defense even more impressive. Overall, I was very pleased with our effort tonight. I can't wait for the season to start."
Greenville will host another scrimmage on Tuesday against Indian Lake starting at 5:30.
