Versailles’
3rd Annual Alumni Softball Tournament
This
weekend the Versailles Alumni Association will host their third annual
softball
tournament. Thirty
two teams will take
their turn on the two K of C ball diamonds starting 6pm on Friday,
August 3 and
continuing Saturday, August 4th and finishing Sunday, August 5th. It is a double
elimination tournament, which
guarantees each team will play at least two games.
The first
games begin at 6:00 pm on Friday and will be played by the Class of
1995
against the consolidated classes of 1981-83 and the Class of 1987
against the
Class of 1991. (Friday’s
schedule is
listed below.) Games
continue into the
evening until around 11:00 pm and resume Saturday morning at 8:00 am
and expect
to last until 11:00 pm again. Sunday
games begin at 8:00 am with the Losers bracket.
The championship game is set for
approximately 6:00 pm.
The
concession stands are well stocked in anticipation of a large, hungry
and
thirsty turnout of spectators.
Admission is free with plenty of
seating, good sandwiches, snacks, beer,
soft drinks and great fun on hand.
Tournament
directors are Matt Barton, Eric Pepple and Holly Keiser. Proceeds of this event are
given as
scholarships to the VHS.
