Pete Rose Jr. named manager of Great Falls rookie team

Pete Rose Jr. will manage the Great Falls Voyagers, the advance rookie affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, according to multiple media outlets.

Rose will be joined by returning coaches Brian Drahman as pitching coach, Charlie Poe as hitting coach, and Kevin Pillifant as the trainer.

New to the staff will be George Timke as strength and conditioning coach.

Rose, 43, had been the manager of the Bristol White Sox for the past two seasons.

Nick Capra enters his second season as the White Sox director of player development, and Kirk Champion will serve as the organization’s field coordinator for the second consecutive season.

The Voyagers made the playoffs in 2012 but were eliminated by Missoula, 2-1, in the best-of-three semifinal round of the Pioneer League Playoffs.

The Voyagers will open their season June 20th against the Billings Mustangs on the road and will return home on June 22nd to face the Missoula Osprey.

In January, Tom Groeschen reported that Rose Jr. indicated that he wants to manage in the Majors.

Rose Jr., who recently turned 43, managed the rookie Bristol club in the Chicago White Sox organization for the past two seasons.
