First month of hoops unbelievable
T-V still undefeated

DARKE COUNTY- With the girls basketball teams nearing the first half of play, two teams have risen to the top.

With a 9-0 mark, Tri-Village has yet to lose a game.

While both teams have had their share of scares, Versailles recently avoided a big scare from Minster to post a 46-36 victory.

With Tri-Village, the Patriots have survived scares from teams like National Trail and more recently, Covington.

After watching the Patriots on five different occasions, even I have to admit, I’m more impressed with my alma mater this year than I was a year ago.

The emergence of Teha Richards, Shaye Thomas, Krystal Falknor and the rest of the Pats has been a pleasure to watch.

Saturday, I watch the red, white and blue clad bunch from Tri-Village totally destroy a decent MAC team in New Bremen.

Let’s face it, the Cardinals came in with a 5-4 record, but playing in the MAC is no picnic. It’s brutal at times, especially when you have to play the likes of Versailles and Coldwater, not to mention Ft. Recovery and St. Henry.

I have to give credit to Patriots coach Brad Grey and the girls.

Before the start of the season, few thought this team could emerge as a powerhouse. I was one of the few that could see what this team was capable of.

It didn’t take a genius to realize that even without Kayla Linkous, this team had a chance to make a run at state.

Along with the three mentioned earlier, Grey has five others that can get the job done.

Lexi Bruner, Echo Brown, Heather Ferris, Liz Collins and Raya Mikesell may have the right chemistry to make a repeat run to Columbus.

As of the win over New Bremen, Tri-Village has averaged 72.7 points per game while allowing 30.8 points per game.

Granted, not all games will produce these types of numbers but to date, it’s been a very impressive run.

Don't look now but the Versailles boys and girls as well as the Tri-Village boys are undefeated as well.

The Lady Patriots record to this point by game:

11/23- TV 85, Ansonia 19
11/24- TV 76, FM 34 to win the Burkett
11/29 TV 68, Newton 22

12/4 TV 62, Houston 35
12/13 TV 97, Ansonia 24

12/20 TV 49, Covington 45
