When the Wave wrestling season started their 2011-12 season, John Shutts admitted it was a young team that would go through some growing pains.
The pains are not as bad as they once were for the Wave as Greenville has jumped back into the top 10 in the Miami Valley.

Wave wrestling making a comeback
GREENVILLE- Its no secret that Greenville wrestling has fallen on hard times in the last two plus years.
Its also no secret that Wave coach John Shutts has the respect of not only his kids but the respect of coaches around the state.
Greenville wrestling is back on the state map. After topping Piqua, 42-36 and Troy, 45-27, Wave wrestling has rebounded.
Greenvilles wrestling team has jumped back into the Top 10 in the GMVWA (Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association) Coaches Poll. The Wave are currently ranked 9th in Division II,
heading into the state wrestling tournament.
Wave senior Jon Edwards recently passed Jeremy DePoy for fourth on the all time list for take downs in a season with 200. He passed DePoy who had 187 in 2004. Edwards also picked
up two more wins, a 7-1 decision over Piqua and a 26-11 tech. fall over the Trojans.
