Versailles Prep Bowling...
Tigers Boys and JV teams chalk up wins, Girls drop to 4-2

Varsity Boys Bowlers Now 7-0

Going into Wednesday’s matches, there were 4 teams tied at 5-0 in the WOHSBC. Versailles, Wapakoneta, Coldwater and Ottawa Glandorf. With Coldwater bowling OG on Wednesday and Versailles bowling OG on Thursday, some changes were going to happen in the standings. On Wednesday, Dec. 28th the boys team ventured to Miracle Lanes in Ft. Recovery to battle the Van Wert Cougars.  Versailles took game one 984 pins to Van Wert’s 850 pins.  The Tigers came out on top again in game two with 1032 pins to the Cougars’ 876.

Going into the first baker with Versailles leading by 290 pins, the Tigers outscored the Cougars 176 to 149.  Van Wert took the second baker with 200  to Versailles’ 196.  Versailles continued to fight and won the last three bakers with scores of 198 to 156, 187 to 167, and 189 to 163.  The Tigers achieved another victory with a total of 2962 pins to Van Wert’s 2561, bringing their record to 6 - 0.   In game 1, Versailles was led by Aaron Niekamp with 222 and Michael Davidson with 209. In the second game, the Tigers were led by Aaron Niekamp with 253 and Kyle Bohman with 220. In a very close and exciting match that was going on at the same time, Ottawa Glandorf ended up beating Coldwater by a total of 12 pins.  

The Versailles Boys Varsity Bowling team moved on to Week 7 action at Speedway Lanes in New Bremen at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011, to take on the undefeated Ottawa Glandorf Titans.  “With OG just coming off a big win against Coldwater, we really needed to bowl well and jump on them early in the first game.” The boys did just that by rolling an impressive 1,053 to OG’s 936. The Tigers kept the pressure on and rolled a 1,035 to OG’s 869.

The Tigers went into the baker games with a lead of 283 over the Titans, but Ottawa did not give up defeated Versailles in the first baker with 197 pins to Versailles’ 149.  The Tigers came back and won the second baker 188 to 149.  The Titans then battled back to win the third baker 214 to 173, and then Versailles took the last two bakers with scores of 199 to 143 and 182 to 151.  The Tigers came out on top once again with a total of 2979 pins to Ottawa’s 2659, bringing their record to 7 – 0 on the season.   The Tigers were led in game one by Michael Davidson with a 253 and Ben Didier with a 222.  In game two Versailles was led by Nathan Peters with a 236 and Ben Didier with a 235.  The Tigers will hit the road again on Saturday, January 7, for Woodcrest Lanes in Union City, Ohio for a double shift, taking on the Ansonia Tigers at 10 a.m. and the Coldwater Cavaliers at 12:30 p.m.

Lady Tiger Bowlers Now 4-2

The Versailles Girls Varsity Bowling Team traveled to Woodcrest Lanes in Union City on Thursday, December 29 to bowl against the St. Marys Roughriders. The Lady Tigers struggled in their first game, and bowled a 776 to St. Marys’ 882. Megan Monnin was the lead bowler for the Tigers with a 176. The Lady Tigers improved their pin count to an 813 in the second game but tied with St. Marys to go into the baker games down by 106. Megan Monnin bowled a clean game totaling 208.

Unfortunately, all five baker games belonged to the Lady Roughriders, and the Lady Tigers ended the match with a total pin count of 2309 to St. Marys’ 2511. The Lady Tigers are now 4-2 on the season.

The girls travel to Miracle Lanes in Fort Recovery to take on the Lady Redskins of Wapakoneta who are currently tied with  St. Henry for second place in the WOHSBC on Saturday, January 7 at 1:00 pm.

JV Boys and Girls Bowling Teams Compete in New Bremen

The Versailles Girls JV Team improved their record to 5-1 by defeating Parkway 2,088 to 1,753. The girls were led by Danielle Cochran with a 183, Haylie Schlater with a 180 and Tori Minnich with a 174.

The Versailles Boys JV Team improved their record to 4-2 with a win over Marion Local. The Tigers outscored Marion Local 2,390 to 1,769. The boys were led by Ben Ahrens with a 179, Grant Toops with a 170 and Tony Bey with a 168.
 
The JV Teams will host their home match this Saturday, January 7th at McBo’s Lanes at 10 am and 1 pm.
