The 2011-12 Western Ohio High School Bowling Conference Awards Banquet was held on March 11th at Romer’s Catering in Celina, Ohio. 3 Professional Bowler’s Association Touring Players were in attendance for this years banquet. There were also many scholarships awarded to Senior Bowlers in the conference. Joe Remaklus was a long time Bowler/Bowling Proprietor in Mercer County. He was the founder of Miracle Lanes in Ft. Recovery and Co-Founder of Pla-Mor Lanes in Coldwater. Joe would be awfully proud of all of the great young bowlers bowling today! Joe passed away in April 2000.

This year marked the 5th year that the WOHSBC awarded scholarships. This is made possible by the annual golf outing that is held and promoted by PBA Player Brian Kretzer. This golf outing also runs in conjunction with the PBA Central Region Lefeld Implement Classic in August. PBA touring players from around the country come to bowl in this event and golf in the fundraiser for the scholarship fund. This years event will be held at Stillwater Valley Golf Club in Versailles on Monday, August 20th. Go to www.plamorlanes.net for more info or call Doug Davidson at 937-417-0410 to enter your team.

Graduating seniors wrote essays on what high school bowling has done for them and what their plans are for the future: $4,000 in scholarships were awarded: $750: Brooke Bosnango(Parkway) and Alex Seitz(Coldwater), $500: Lauren Jutte(Minster) and Joel Hemmelgarn(Versailles), $300: Erica Keysor(St. Marys and Zach Brannan(Wapakoneta), $200: Casey Feltz(Wapak) and Brandon Batt(Wapak), $150: Shelby Rosenbeck(Wapak) and Ben Didier(Versailles), $100: Jenna Wenning(Coldwater) and Cody Schultz(Wapak)
