V-Tigers take D-II track title

ST. PARIS – Versailles has done it again.

Graham High School was the place and the Tigers boys track team made no bones about it.

They are a team to be reckoned with.

The Tigers scored 81 points as a team Thursday and Saturday, to post a first place tie with Brookville for the coveted D-II track and field title.

The Versailles boys 4x800-meter relay team of Samuel Prakel, Chad Winner, Darren Subler and Sam Subler won its race with a time of 8:02.16.

Versailles’ Clay Wilker finished fourth in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.38.

Prakel won the boys 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:17.38, breaking the meet record of 4:21.29 that was set by Greenon’s Jacob McCaulley in 2001. He also won the 3200 for the Tigers.

Chad Winner finished third in the boys 400-meter dash with a time of 51.07.

Mitchell Campbell, Darren Subler, Craig Pothast and Chad Winner won the boys 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:25.61.

Mitchell Didier finished fourth in the boys shot put with a throw of 46 feet 2 inches.

Clay Wilker finished third in the boys high jump with a jump of 6 feet. Versailles’ Craig Pothast finished fourth with a jump of 6 feet.

The qualifying athletes will compete in the Division II regional meet Thursday and Saturday at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.
