Wave tennis wraps up season
TROY – The Wave tennis team ended their season at the sectional
tournament at Troy Wednesday.
The doubles team of Derek Lockhart and Sam Bowers won two matches
before losing in the third round. The duo beat Nick Holmes and David
Marytr of Wayne 6-1, 6-1 and then out lasted Nick Ahmed and Sam
Brougher of Springfield 6-0, 6-3.
Bowers and Lockhart then fell to Chris Schmitt and Ben Thompson of Troy
6-2, 6-0.
The second doubles team of Landen Kiser and Alex Wolter beat Holly
Black and Luke Hanes of Piqua 6-1, 6-1 and then fell to the wayside to
Luke Oaks and Ryan Wynkoop of Troy 6-1, 6-1.
In singles action, Evan Kiser beat Xenia’s Ryan Holland 6-0, 6-1 before
losing to Vandalia-Butler’s Justin Kopronica 6-0, 6-0.
Chase Strawser lost to Trotwood-Madison’s Savont Moore 6-4, 6-2 in the
second round after having a first-round bye.
Yannic Koelling lost to Northmont’s Destin Lewis 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the
second round following a first-round bye.
