Coldwater knocks Covington out of post season

DAYTON- The Coldwater Cavaliers took the next step to a state football title Saturday, thumping Covington 20-0.

Coldwater has lost three straight title games and will have to get by Findley Liberty Benton in the state semi-finals. Liberty Benton edged out Patrick Henry 22-21 Saturday to advance.

As for Covington, the MAC has been a thorn in the side of the Buccs.

Since 2003, Covington has faced a MAC team on six different occasions and lost all six games. Three of those losses were to Marion Local (03, 06 and 09), once to Delphos, 56-13, (2005) and Coldwater twice in 2011 and 2012.

If the Cavs get past Liberty Benton, they will get the winner of the Kirtland-Baltimore Liberty-Union game.

NOTE- Sites will be determined by the OHSAA and will be posted on the CNO website when received.
