Greenville gets first win of the year

GREENVILLE – It was described by one person as the best game ever.

On a night when things looked grim for the Wave and a 0-4 record was staring them in the face, Greenville pulled off a huge play that was started by Nick Woodruff.

Woodruff found Pirate's quarterback Quenton Woods, forced the fumble and recovered at the Wave 43 yard line.

At that point, Greenville got things set up on offense.

Greenville went to the pass, going the length of the field as freshman Clay Guillozet hit Tyler Neff late in the game and the Wave would ring their victory bell, celebrating a 32-31 victory over the Pirates.

Greenville (1-3) will travel to Centerville and a battle with the Elks next Friday.

V-Tigers top Anna

ANNA - Every since the Anna Rockets left the Cross County Conference and joined the MAC in football, Versailles had never won at Anna until Friday night.

Trailing 21-7 at the break, the Tigers started to claw away before gaining a 41-27 MAC victory over the Rockets.

Now 2-2 on the year and 1-1 in the conference, Versailles will host Marion Local next Friday.

In other games around the county, Mississinawa Valley went to 0-4, losing 45-6 to powerhouse Miami East, and Arcanum fell to 1-3 on the season, losing 44-19 to Twin Valley South.
