Cold temperatures nix Eldora/USAC event
Third Attempt at Season Opener Set for April 27 with Saturday Night SpeedFest

ROSSBURG, OH (April 20) -- An unexpected wintry mix of precipitation hit Eldora Speedway overnight, with  National Weather Service issued freeze warnings throughout Darke and Mercer Counties .  The bitter cold temperatures this morning are hampering the track crew's diligent efforts to rework the high-banked .500-mile clay oval into optimal condition, and have forced Eldora and United States Auto Club (USAC) Officials to cancel tonight's event featuring the USAC National Sprint Car Series, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds and Eldora Stocks.  It will not be rescheduled.

The 60th Season Opener will now be attempted for a third time, this coming Saturday, April 27, with the Saturday Night SpeedFest showcasing the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, Eldora Stocks and the recently-added Waynesfield Tuff Truck division.

Heading into the month of May, two busy weekends of action are on tap; beginning with the World of Outlaws (WoO) STP Sprint Cars in a Friday/Saturday doubleheader, May 3 & 4.   Each night will be a full program of competition for the travelling WoO stars, with the Eldora Stock Cars joining the field Friday night and the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds on Saturday night.

Another action doubleheader takes place the following weekend as TORC (The Off Road Challenge) makes its Eldora debut.  The Friday/Saturday spectacular will feature Baja style off-road trucks racing around Eldora’s high banks on a specially designed course.

Complete event and advance ticket purchase information for these events, along with the other exciting race events on the 2013 Eldora calendar, is available on the track’s website www.EldoraSpeedway.com.  Race fans and race teams can get behind-the-scenes access by following @EldoraSpeedway on Twitter, hitting ‘Like’ at Facebook.com/EldoraSpeedway and view video highlights at YouTube.com/EldoraSpeedwayInc.  The new Eldora Speedway app for the iPhone, iPad and Android is now available for download via iTunes and Google Play
