Versailles boys golf team wins Kendig Memorial
Drees leads Tiger efforts

PIQUA- The Versailles boys golf team won the Dan Kendig Memorial Tournament Wednesday at Echo Hills Golf Course in Piqua.

Versailles won the 15-team tournament, which also included Darke County teams from Arcanum, Franklin Monroe and Tri-Village.

Versailles shot a 319 to win the invitational by two strokes as Russia finished second with a 321. Milton-Union finished third with a 329, Arcanum finished fourth with a 335, and Anna finished fifth with a 340.

Franklin Monroe placed sixth in the tournament with a 345, Fort Loramie was seventh with a 351, Graham was eighth with a 360, National Trail was ninth with a 369, and Covington was 10th with a 375.

Bethel finished 11th with a 386, Newton placed 12th with a 387, Houston placed 13th with a 411, Tri-Village placed 14th with a 413, and Fairlawn placed 15th with a 453.

Versailles’ Tyler Drees was the tournament medalist as he shot a two-over-par 74 with a 38 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine. Also for the Tigers, Alex Stucke shot an 80, Ryan Knapke shot an 81, Mitchell Stover shot an 84, Nicholas Stonebraker shot an 85, and Jacob Watren shot an 87.
