The Greenville Wave wrestlers traveled to Bowling Green for district action. The Wave finished
32nd out of 48 teams with senior Nick Woodruff placing sixth in the 220 pound weight division.

Wave grapplers end season at districts

BOWLING GREEN- Forty-eight teams entered the district meet at Bowling Green this past week-end. Greenville left, finishing 32nd overall, scoring 12 points in the tournament.

The best for the Wave came at the 220 pound class when Nick Woodruff finished sixth.

Woodruff recorded two pins on the day before being pinned by Wauseon senior Zane Krall in 2:16, the he lost to Beau Swank of Ben Logan by a 7-2 decision.

In his final match to stay in the tournament, Woodruff was pinned by senior Chaz Price in 2:12.

Wave senior Nelson Roberts (132) lost his opening match to junior Nate Boggs of Perkins, 9-4, then bounced back to beat Clyde sophomore Austin Baker in a 10-4 decision.
Roberts was soon eliminated by Oak Harbor’s Alec Bowlick, 4-2.
Greenville junior Ian Warner was pinned by senior Santana Villarreal at 2:17 and would eventually be eliminated by Norwalk senior Collin Bickerstaff by pin at 1:15 in the opening period.

In the 152-pound weight class freshman William Nibert was pinned by Columbian junior Seth Williams in 1:35 and then would bow out to Sandusky senior Derrick Kirkwood in 12 seconds by pin fall.

Wave falls short in sectionals
SPRINGFIELD- With less than two minutes remaining, the Greenville Green Wave could not finish what they started Tuesday against Graham.

Looking to get one tournament win, the Wave fell short against the Falcons Tuesday, 43-38.

The Wave started the season 0-9 but came on strong in the end, winning eight of their final 14 games to claim an 8-15 record.
 
SPRINGFIELD- The Tri-Village Patriots powerlifting team made the trek to Springfield Shawnee Saturday to participate in the Springfield Shawnee Invitational.
The meet consisted of three events, (bench, squat and the deadlift) as the Lady Patriot lifters would place sixth overall with the boys seventh.

In the 11th-12th grade division, Ashley Banis was third with a 595 pounds lifted while in the 140 pound class of the 9th-10th grade, Courtney Banis turned in a 380 pounds lifted mark, good enough for fourth place.

Katherine Banis came in third at 110 pounds (7th-8th grade division) with 345 pounds lifted.

The Tri-Village boys saw Trever Mote winning the seventh-eighth grade (155 pound division) by lifting 430 pounds.

Wyatt Sleppy won the seventh-eighth grade 145 pound division by lifting 775 pounds.

Logan Durst finished third in the ninth-10th grade 195 pound division by lifting 760 pounds while Dillion Flatter was the runner up in the ninth-10th grade 250 pound division by lifting 1,010 pounds.

Seth Earles placed fourth in the ninth-10th grade 250 pound division with 840 pounds lifted. Ethan Forster finished third in the ninth-10th grade 185 pound division by lifting 780 pounds.

Tri-Village’s next meet is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bradford. The Ohio high school state powerlifting meet will be March 9 at Kenton High School.
