Thomas named CCC Player of the Year

DARKE COUNTY — Tri-Village’s Shaye Thomas was named the Cross County Conference girls basketball player of the year, topping the awards earned by Darke County players.

Thomas, a senior guard, was named the player of the year while Miami East’s Preston Elifritz was named the coach of the year. Thomas averaged 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 3.5 steals per game this season.

Along with Thomas, Darke County was represented on the CCC first team by Arcanum’s Abbey O’Donnell, Franklin Monroe’s Taylor Robins and Tri-Village’s Teha Richards.

Ansonia’s Catey Fischer, Bradford’s Haley Patty, Franklin Monroe’s Haley Gray, Franklin Monroe’s Claire Neiswander, Mississinawa Valley’s Maddie Murphy and Tri-Village’s Krystal Falknor were named second team all-CCC.

Ansonia’s Allison Phillippi, Arcanum’s Alexis Abner, Bradford’s Gabby Fair, Franklin Monroe’s Allison Snider, Mississinawa Valley’s Hope Neargarder and Tri-Village’s Ecko Brown were named to the CCC’s special mention team.

Miami East won the CCC girls basketball championship with a 12-0 conference record. Tri-Village finished second at 11-1, National Trail finished third at 10-2, Covington was fourth at 8-4, and Franklin Monroe was fifth at 7-5. Arcanum, Mississinawa Valley and Tri-County North tied for sixth at 6-6 while Newton finished ninth at 5-7, Bradford was 10th at 4-8, Twin Valley South was 11th at 2-10, Ansonia was 12th at 1-11, and Bethel finished in last place at 0-12.
