Prakel and Murphy represent Darke County
FORT WAYNE, In.- The Midwest Meet of Champions saw Versailles' Sam
Prakel and Tri-Village's Clayton Murphy represent Darke County at
Spuller Stadium in Ft. Wayne recently for graduating seniors.
Both ran the 1600 meters against runners from Indiana, Michigan and
Ohio.
In the event, Prakel finished first with a time of 4:09.92 while Murphy
was second coming across the line in 4:15.11.
Murphy and Prakel were state champions at this year’s Ohio High School
Athletic Association state track and field meet. Murphy won the
Division III boys 1,600-meter run while Prakel won the Division II boys
800- and 1,600-meter runs.
Ohio won this year’s boys champions meet with 190 points. Indiana was
second with 163 points, and Michigan was third with 112 points. Ohio
also won the girls with 203 points while Indiana was second with 154.5
points, and Michigan placed third with 109.5 points.
