Dabbelt Report Division 4
Thomas honored as co-Player of the Year

TIPP CITY - Tri-Village senior Shaye Thomas was honored Wednesday night as the Dabbelt Report Division 4 co-Player of the Year by Jim Dabbelt, the website's Executive Director.

Thomas, who was also named the Cross County Conference and Southwest District Player of the Year, led the Lady Patriots into the Division 4 regional finals with a 47-43 win over Mechanicsburg at Tippecanoe High School.

"Shaye has enjoyed a wonderful career, and her role this year for the Patriots was a bit different," said Dabbelt, a 27-year veteran covering girls basketball in Ohio. "She has taken more of a scoring role and has adapted to that nicely for (Coach) Brad (Gray)."

Dabbelt says Thomas is the best pure point guard in Ohio in Division 4, and just gets her job done each night.

"Sure there are point guards who will score more than her, but her complete game is as good as anybody in the state in Division 4," Dabbelt said. "She does a lot of the little things well, and is just the consumate leader for that team."

Joining Thomas as the co-Player of the Year was Fort Loramie junior Dairan Rose. Other top players named included Bianca Quisenberry of Tecumseh and Kathryn Westbeld of Fairmont sharing the honor in Division 1, Trischa Lacy from Urbana in Division 2 and Natalie Billing from Anna in Division 3.

You can view the entire list of Dabbelt's annual all-area team at www.jimdabbelt.wordpress.com. The Dabbelt Report is generally considered the premier source for girls basketball in Ohio.
