Lady Bowlers Open the Season with Two Wins

The season opener was a success for the lady bowlers beating Celina 2281 to 2043.  The first match was held at Community Lanes in Minster.  Leading the way for the Tigers in the individual games was Hannah Niekamp with a 160 & 164.  Olivia Bruening also came out strong with a 168 & 154.  Bridget Holsapple and Maggie Hedrick both rolled a strong single game with a 158 and 159 respectively. The Tiger scores in the five baker games were 146, 177, 157, 134, and 146.  “I was happy with the way the whole team contributed to a victory in the opening match.  Many of the girls were nervous this being their first varsity appearance, but they did a great job” said Coach Phlipot.

In week two the Tigers traveled to Plaza Lanes in Celina defeating St. Marys 2507 to 1957.  “I was proud at the improvement I observed from week one to week two.  Their confidence level grew tremendously between the two matches.  The hard work paid off and is shown in week two’s scores” said Coach Phlipot.  Single game high scores were Hannah Niekamp (220), Maggie Hedrick (215), Megan Ward (180), and Olivia Bruening (171).  The baker game scores were 125, 147, 154, 152, and 223.  Coach Phlipot pointed out that this year the girls bowl after the boys affecting the oil pattern that the girls will face each week.  It is important that they recognize the need for adjustments and trust their shot for success.

The Lady Tigers have a week off and will resume next week at Pla Mor Lanes in Coldwater.  If you want to review league stats go to WWW.WOHSBC.COM
