Ansonia tops Bradford in sectional final
Tigers only county softball team left
By George Starks

SIDNEY- The Ansonia Lady Tigers were the only team left standing Tuesday evening when all play had ended.

In a game dominated by pitching, it was Ansonia senior Catey Fischer and Bradford senior Haley Patty that locked horns in the pitching circle at Fairlawn High School.

Ansonia won a thriller on a solo homerun off the bat of Allison Phillippi in the fourth. That would be all the Tigers would need in a 1-0 sectional final victory.

In other action Tuesday, Greenville fell in it’s sectional final game, falling to Southwestern, 6-2 at Tecumseh High School, while Versailles was tripped up by Milton Union, 2-1 at Northmont.

Upon the heels of a 3-1 Franklin Monroe loss at Bradford to Southeastern, the Tigers will meet Southeastern Saturday at 11 a.m. for the district title.
