Versailles Boys Varsity Bowlers Now 9-4

The Versailles Varsity Bowlers beat Marion Local defeated Marion Local 2,852 to 1,931 at their home match on Saturday, January 31st. The Tigers were led by sophomores Alex Groff (221-215) and Kyle Cotner (246) and Senior Kenny Nagle 202.

On February 7th, the Tigers traveled to Lima to take on conference rival Coldwater. The Tigers have had the Cavalier’s number the last 4 years and was hoping to make it 5 straight. Coldwater had different ideas, though. The Cavs came out firing the 1st game and took the lead 1,010 to 897. Versailles did not give up and came back with a fine 1,031, however, Coldwater continued to stay hot and rolled a 1,048.

The Tigers struggled to a 153 in their 1st baker game but showed a lot of character and never gave up. They finished strong with a 212, 201, 206, 212. The final match ended with Coldwater defeating the Tigers 3,092 to 2,912. “Although we lost the match, they continued to work hard and never gave up. That is extremely important now that we will be heading into Sectionals next week. We have the team to make it back to State, the guys just have to believe it,” said Coach Davidson.

The Tigers were led by Zach Marshal with a 201-240, Kyle Cotner 203-213 and Dustin Ruhe with a 200.
