Lady Tigers Roll to A 9-1 Record

The Lady Tiger Bowlers defeated the Parkway Panthers with a score of 2419 to 2272 on January 31st at McBo’s Lanes in Versailles. “With this being the only home match of the year the underclassmen wanted to send Seniors Megan Ward and Heather Bey out with a win in their last home match. The girls knew this would not be easy,” said Coach Phlipot. The first game went back and forth with Versailles winning 867-828 giving them a 39 pin lead.  Game 2 started out the same way but the Tigers gained momentum, stepped up and added a little more cushion by winning 808-736 putting the Tigers up 111 pins going into the Baker games. The key in winning the first two matches was spare shooting and the girls did an excellent job. Individual score leaders for the Tigers were Megan Ward (180-202), Heather Bey (177), Hannah Niekamp (188), and Olivia Breuning (167).  The Tigers continue to work hard in practice focusing on their need to improve in Baker play.

The Lady Tigers have a big match this Saturday February 7th at Westgate Lanes in Lima against the Wapakoneta Redskins. Wapakoneta is unbeaten in the conference with a record of 10-0, Coldwater is second at 10-1 and Versailles is third at 9-1. The Lady Tigers will need to win against Wapakoneta in order to have a three way tie for first place. “I believe the girls will be ready for the challenge,” said Coach Phlipot.
