Varsity Boys Bowling Advances to Districts

The Varsity Bowling team traveled to Huber Heights on February 10th to bowl at the Sectional Tournament. The format of play included 3 regular games and 6 baker games allowing the top 10 teams to advance to the District Tournament. The Tigers finished 8th overall out of 25 teams. “We started off slow but we were able to settle down and make the right adjustments to advance our seed as the day went on.  I told them to remain focused because in these situations there is a long day of bowling and the leader board isn’t determined until the end,” said Coach Phlipot. After the first regular game with a score of 760 the Tigers were sitting at 19th overall. They increased their seed to 14th after the second game with a score of 879. Scoring 921 in the 3rd regular game the Tigers sat in 12th place heading into the Baker games.  They were only 30 pins behind the cut. The Tigers’ baker scores: 189, 170, 245, 172, 202, and 173.  The boys jived well during Baker games. They bowled the 4th highest baker set overall with an 1151 making for a total overall score of 3711.  “Watching a team come together under pressure is an enjoyable experience.  The boys should be proud of their focus and determination,” said Coach Phlipot.

The top 4 teams at the District Tournament on February 18th will advance to State.  The Tigers will need to head into the day strong and continue to work well as a team.  It will be a tough day but with confidence and determination it is possible they will head to Columbus.
