Revived!
By Kalista King

I am pleased to say that there will be a new event coming up this summer for teens in the Miami Valley area! We are starting a new program called, “Revived” which will most likely take place beginning sometime in July, and we are hoping to get permission from the City of Greenville to use the bandshell which is located in the park by the City Pool.

We do not have all the details yet, but I will be sure to let you all know as soon as we figure everything out! It was out of great excitement that I couldn’t wait to tell you about this event, because we have been praying for it to start for almost a year now.

Revived is a place in which teens from all over can come together and spend time in worshiping their Heavenly Father. This may sound dull or boring to those who have never done this sort of thing before, but we think that those who are serious about their faith or simply love to worship will greatly enjoy this event. As I said before, more details will be revealed at a later time, but I would be happy to explain how Revived actually came about.

Last summer was a very big life-changing summer for me. God had been making a lot of changes in my life and had given me a passion to help many other teens come to know Christ as I had. I went to a church camp called Ludlow Falls, where I became very close with a girl named, Rosie Baltes. Rose is a very musically gifted person who plays guitar, piano, and probably some other instruments that I’m not aware of, and she also sings like an angel.

Now before camp, I had been praying really hard for God to give me ideas of what to do to help others come to know Christ as their personal Savior or help others who are struggling in their walks with Christ. I continued to pray this throughout the week at camp until one day God told me, “Rosie.” It was then that I knew I had to talk to her and figure out what exactly God had in mind.

When I told Rosie that I needed to talk to her, I saw her face light up and she said, “I think I already know what you’re going to say.” It turned out that God had put me on Rosie’s heart as well, and she had been imagining an event in which she could lead worship and I could speak.

I was blown away that God had given us both the same vision and had brought us together at church camp so we could discover this program that He already had planned for us to do! As we continued to pray about this program, we both found ourselves praying and saying the word, “revival” quite often, and when the name, “Revived” came up for the program, we were both convinced that this was the perfect name.

Soon after camp, we found ourselves at the bandshell praying for wisdom on when to start Revived. We spent the remainder of the summer praying for Revived to start, and we both felt like God wanted us to wait for next summer and continue praying for revival throughout the school year.

Now if you’ve read my other articles, you’ve heard that revival is exactly what happened this school year and will continue to happen through the summer! It is so incredible how perfect God’s timing is, and we firmly believe that God set Revived into motion and will use it as a tool to Revive His children in the Miami Valley.
