Teen Revival
Breaking through walls of hurt
By Kalista King & Brianna Denham

In past articles, I have talked a lot about other teenagers who are on fire for God. You have even heard from a few of them who have tag-teamed with me on certain articles. Well this week I asked a girl who I have recently gotten to know very well to write a bit about what God has been doing in her life lately and about her hopes for this school year. Her name is Brianna Denham, and I must say that she is one of the most inspiring young teenagers that I have ever known. Her love for the Lord continues to amaze me, and I think you will understand why as she shares her heart with you throughout the rest of this article.

Brianna…

Hey. So I guess I'm just gonna share a little bit of my heart with you. Too often I've noticed people think that teens are all about the world, and what the world has to offer, but Jesus is grabbing the hearts of so many teens it's amazing. My heart just happened to be one of them, and ever since then I get butterflies thinking about what He is doing in the hearts of other teens.

Kalista isn't kidding, a revival is going on, right at this moment. All over the world, including Darke County. I would recommend just thinking about that a second and letting it sink in. A revival is going on in Darke County. I hope that sentence just puts a smile on your face, knowing souls are being won over for God at this very second. God’s love is breaking so many walls in these teens hearts caused by past hurts, walls that seem to be made out of pure steel, but God’s love is melting every one of them.

Unfortunately, emotional scars are being made at very early ages and seem to be impossible to heal, while people continue to add more hurt to the hearts of young people, and with each one it seems to reinforce the reason we build walls in the first place. We build these walls to keep people from getting in and able to hurt us, when in all reality it's not only keeping people out, but God too. I was one of them, I put a notion in my head that I couldn't be vulnerable to any one, thinking they would do the inevitable and hurt me.

But as a loving Dad would, God poured His true love over me in a way I never thought possible. His love and His love alone broke me into enough pieces to let His Spirit work in me. Everyday He reminds His children that He will not hurt us. Ever. The amazing thing about that, is He's pouring His love out on everybody, and so many teens are responding to the call to love Him back, and it's more amazing than words could ever begin to describe.

I have a passion for writing, but there are some things that are indescribable, and seeing these teens on fire for God is one of them. They are turning from lives that were leading to complete destruction, to racing towards the kingdom of Heaven. Seeing the absolute freedom and joy in these teens faces is... more than amazing.

My advice would to not ever be discouraged over our generation. The enemy will try and make it seem like we've already lost the battle, but let me tell you, Jesus is raising up an army that's starting with the teens in this generation. So keep praying for these kids, I can't even explain how important that is. Deep wounds have been made in some teens’ hearts, and we as believers need to pray for their hearts to become softened to His love.

Seeing some of these teens lost in the spinning cycle of what the world is offering is heart breaking, knowing they are playing right into Satan's lies. It's time for us believers to stand up with the unlimited amount of strength our God has to offer, and stand together as a family, and pray against the plans Satan has in mind. The Spirit in us is so much bigger than all of the enemy's army, so take that power we have in Christ and push Satan out with it. A lot of these teens are getting it, and I know it's not even close to being done. God has a big plan for this generation, and He's rising us up now. Keep praying.
