Teen Revival
A Soldier of Christ… Built in His Image
By Kalista King & Alex Dearing

This week, I asked a dear friend of mine if he could write to you and share about his experience in Lima, Ohio last weekend. I shared a bit about the trip we were taking to Lima in my article last week. We went to see Teens for Christ's ministry team perform there and also to experience Saturday Night Prayer with the teenagers involved in Lima's Teens for Christ organization. There were 18 teenagers that went on this trip to Lima, along with one adult.

My friend writing to you today is, Alex Dearing, and I have known him for a very long time because we went to the same church together when we were younger. He is a senior at Greenville High School and is also very involved in our F2F ministry there, which most of you know about from past articles. Alex is one of those teenagers that just has a genuine love for The Lord and seeing others come to know Him. So please be attentive as he shares about his experience with Teens for Christ last weekend.

Alex: Over the past few years I have noticed a great amount of change in my life. I think the same could be said about this weekend trip to Lima that we have just taken.

I am not a great philosopher and I am not a headship of any church, I am just an 18 year old with a lot of faith and hope. That weekend I had faith that God had something big for us in His sovereign plan and I was right.

Before we embarked on our journey to Lima, we all met at the junior high to talk about what we were going to be a part of. Kalista, feeling like she shouldn’t let any of us down, told us from the beginning that ‘this may not be anything huge’ and ‘we are going on this trip simply to get ideas from their ministry team’ when in actuality, we teens were about to be broken and put in amazement by the almighty gracious God we worship.

I’ve been to youth conferences and worship concerts all across the country, I’ve given sermons at my local youth group and other outreach events, I’ve been to a country completely destroyed and built back up again by Gods grace, and I can honestly say that God had the same presence in Lima as He did in all those other places. He truly has love for all his children and not just when they are in groups of 1000+ but also when a simple man cries out to His creator just asking for forgiveness!

We hung out with the folks at Teens for Christ and I can honestly say I think our teens are in better understanding now of what pure devotion and surrender to God looks like.

During the last song that the ministry team performed, I saw Gods children cry out, reach out, and fall on their knees for the God they love. I was one of them. In return I saw God speak to our hearts, fill our empty cups, reach back with holy hands, and receive the glory and the praise that He DESERVES!

God did amazing things last weekend, and God will continue to do amazing things! We teenagers are no longer afraid to fall on our knees out of sheer amazement and joy! We are unashamed.

I have learned that God gives us life and all He asks for in return is to GO. GO and make disciples of all nations proclaiming His majesty. He is all-knowing! He is all-powerful! He is SOVEREIGN! We are blessed!! My encouragement is just to go. Go out, children of God, and just simply…surrender.

The wind was told to blow, the waves to crash, and the light to shine, in which they have all obeyed their Master. We have been called upon to GO. Therefore, as a soldier of Christ built in His image… I will go.
